Established in July of 2005, School of Cultural Communication consists of 4 departments and 1 division: Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Department of History, Department of Radio and TV, Department of Broadcasting and Presiding, and Public Basic Teaching Division. It offers 5 undergraduate majors of Chinese Language and Literature (including teaching orientation), Studies of History (teaching orientation), Radio and TV Editing and Broadcasting and Presiding, with over 1,100 students.  

The school has a teaching area of nearly 7,000 m2. The audio-visual art experiment (practice) centerhas beencompleted and put into use, which contains comprehensive television studio with an area of 400 m2, film & TV observation hall and rehearsal hall, filming training rooms, broadcasting practice rooms, image shooting art lab, HD video making lab, video sound creation studio, etc., with a total investment value of over 4.8 million yuan. The school library has over 8,000 books and nearly 5,000 digital audio-visual documents.

The school has 1 famous teacher of Liaoning Province, and 1famous teacherof Shenyang Municipality. Of 68 full-time teachers, 11 are professors, 19 are associate professors, 38 are lecturers,among which57 teachers have master’s degrees or above (including 11 with doctorate degrees). 

The course of “60 lectures of Chinese ancient literature and Chinese classical literature” is a provincial-level quality course, and the course of “contemporary world history” is one of the first provincial-level quality resource sharing courses. The school won 6 university-level teaching achievement prizes and was awarded “leading unit of university-level teaching reform” in the year of 2012. 

Teachers of the school have published over 70 core periodical articles (including nearly 30 ones retrieved by CSSCI), and over 40worksand textbooks. They also have more than 50 research programs of national, provincial, and municipal levels, with scientific research income of over 1 million yuan. Four hundred students have won awards of different levels of professional skill contests. 

By taking fulladvantageof rich professional resources, the school positively undertakes many social service work of regional cultural construction and artistic welfare project, etc., andhas wonhigh praises. The school has also established scientific research institutions such asLuxunResearch Society of Liaoning Province, Shenyang Local Culture Research Institute, Manchu Culture Research Institute and Sinology Research Society, etc. All the above have become important platforms for regional cultural construction and research.
